Nick Rivera Caminero was born in March of 1981 in Lawrence, Massachusetts to parents Jose and Ysabel. His father is Puerto Rican while his mother is of Dominican descent.
When he was 10, Nick and his family moved to the Río Hondo suburb of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Overall, Jam has four children, born in 2002, 2002, 2005, and 2012. In February 2017, he married Angélica Cruz, but the couple divorced just one year later.
In 2020, he became engaged to model Cydney Moreau, but again, the relationship lasted about one year. Afterward, he dated Livia Rici, Nati Torres, and Paulina Cruz.
