Muni Long was born on September 14 in the year 1988 in Vero Beach, Florida. The real identity of her parents is not known yet. However, we got to know that her dad was a member of the Navy. Long started singing when she was 2. Although she became comfortable singing in front of people when she grew older. Long is a graduate of Vero Beach High School.

In the initial days, Muni posted her videos on YouTube. She had recorded the videos in her room. Long recorded her first song which was a rendition of the song “Cry Me a River”. She later submitted her song to a contest. The winner of the contest would get a chance to sing with singer, Justin Timberlake at the Grammy Awards. Due to her growing popularity, she got a chance to take part in MTV’s Karaoke game show “Say What? Karaoke.”. Long was around 21 when she signed her first record deal with Capitol Records in the year 2009. She was about to release her debut album on October 20, 2009. However, the album was later delayed due to some additional recording work. On August 18, 2009, she released the song “Dollhouse” from the album. The song became a mild chart success peaking at 31 on the Hot Dance Club Songs.

Long was initially using her birth name to release her songs and album. Her first album “Jukebox” eventually hit the market on December 1, 2009. Even though the album didn’t perform well commercially, it was critically acclaimed. In 2010, she started writing singles for other recording artists. Long contributed to the American girl group, Fifth Harmony’s first album Reflection by helping them pen the song “Worth It”.
