Kelendria Trene Rowland was born in February of 1981 in Atlanta, Georgia to parents Christopher Lovett and Doris Rowland-Garrison. Her mother left her father when she was six due to him being an abusive alcoholic.
Unfortunately, Kelly’s father also suffered from PTSD as a result of serving in the Vietnam War.
A year or two later, Rowland and her mom relocated to Houston, where Kelly eventually moved in with fellow Destiny’s Child member Beyoncé. She even calls Beyonce’s mom “Mama T”.
