DeShawn Stevenson was born on April 3 in the year 1981 in Fresno, California. He was born to Darryl Stevenson and Genice Popps. Although, his dad never married his mom. Stevenson’s dad murdered his own mom Clara and died of cancer in prison at 36 years of age.
Stevenson grew up with his godparents in Easton, California. He joined the same school where his father had studied. While studying in high school, he played basketball and won the state championship in his junior year. In the fall of senior year, he signed with the Kansas Jayhawks. In his senior year, he made average points of 30.4, rebounds of 9.7, and made 6.2 assists in each game. He showed a good performance after being named to the McDonald’s All-American team.
