Charlie Crist was born on the 24th of July, 1956 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He was born to Charles Joseph Crist and Nancy (nee Lee). Charlie moved to St. Petersburg when he was a child. There, he studied at the Riviera Middle School and then joined the St. Petersburg High School. Later, he joined Wake Forest University.

After studying for two years at Wake Forest, he transferred to Florida State University. Afterward, he joined the Standard University Cumberland School of Law and earned his J. D. In 1981, he passed the bar on his third attempt. Thereafter, he started working as a general counsel to Minor League Baseball.

In 1986, he became a candidate for public office first time. Then, he ran for a state Senate seat in the Republican primary in Pinellas County.

However, he lost the primary election in a runoff and then he joined his brother-in-law in private practice. Charlie was then elected to a 2-year term in the Florida Senate in 1992, where he got victory over Helen Gordon Davis. In 1998, he earned recognition as the Republican challenger to Democratic U. S. Senator, Bob Graham. Then, he was elected to Florida’s Education Commissioner in 2000. However, he left the position after being elected as an attorney general.

Charlie in the general election eventually defeated the republican incumbent, David Jolly. Soon after that, he became the first Democrat to win the seat in 62 years.

In January 2017, he was sworn as a U. S. House representative. After four years in May 2021, he announced his candidacy in the 2022 Florida gubernatorial election for the Democratic nomination. He eventually defeated Nikki Fried in the primary election on August 23, 2022.

Charlie will now face the 46th governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis in the general election in November 2022. His victory over Nikki Fried came at a time when Democrats are fretting over the question of who would be the one to face Republican Governor, Ron DeSantis.

According to several news outlets, he was leading the race with 59.2% of the votes on Tuesday night. At that time, Nikki Fried had only 35.4% of the votes.
