Angela Yee was born on the 3rd of January, 1976 in Brooklyn, New York City. She was born to an Afro-Monsterratian mother, Mary, and a Chinese father, Celestina Farage-Yee. Angela studied at Poly Pre in Brooklyn. Then, she joined Wesleyan University where she majored in English in 1997.
Following her University graduation, she started working in marketing and music. She eventually joined W-Tang Management as an intern to assist the CEO, Divine. At an earlier stage, she provided a lip-sync on Wu-Tang Clan’s music video, Reunited. She also contributed as a skit writer on the rapper, GZA’s third album “Beneath the Surface”.

Afterward, she started working for the clothing company, Shady Limited founded by rapper Eminem. While working there, she thought that she could work in Serius Satellite Radio’s marketing department. Then she asked Eminem’s manager, Paul Rosenberg, if he could help her schedule an interview through his Shade 45 connections. After her request, Rosenberg suggested she should try out for a morning show.
Angela then hosted the two shows on Eminem’s radio station, Shade 45 titled “The Morning After with Angela Yee” and “Lip Service. In 2005, she began her radio career at Sirus by working as the co-host of The Cipha Sounds Effect. She got an opportunity to work as a host full-time after Cipha Sounds bid goodbye to Sirius in July 2008. Angela hosted the show until December 2010 and left Shade 45. Thereafter, she started hosting Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club along with Charlamagne the God and DJ Envy.
